For the monitoring of conservation restrictions/easements by land trust staff and volunteers. Designed to meet Land Trust Alliance guidelines.
This app makes it easy to enter the details of a property visit, from who was contacted prior to the visit, to photographing and geotagging any issues regarding reserved rights or prohibited uses, to collecting the signature of the property monitor. It utilizes repeatable fields so that there is no limit on the entries a monitor can create per property, and classification sets so that the monitor can select quickly from lists of common issues. Quality control and speed of entry were large factors in the design process, so text entry is largely avoided and replaced with multiple/single choice fields whenever possible.
Trustees staff are also able to import geo-referenced property data at the beginning of the monitoring season to further facilitate quick field entry. Selecting the property the monitor is visiting automatically loads the location, address, and property owner information into the form, so all the monitor needs to do is fill out what they found on their visit.
[The Trustees of Reservations](http://www.thetrustees.org/), a [Land Trust Alliance](http://www.landtrustalliance.org/) nationally accredited land trust, is the largest private holder of conservation restrictions in the state of Massachusetts, and one of the oldest land conservation organizations in the country. With 400+ conservation restrictions (easements) to monitor annually, they needed a way of streamlining the property monitoring process. This app is the result of their work.
